Teaching Zephyr to wear his Aviator Harness. We are at the point where I get his head through and one wing in. I am working on getting him comfortable raising his left wing to get the harness under, then I will gradually start to tighten the harness to the correct size.

  • Thank you for you response !

Like I said I have the petite, it's ok when I put it on but it kind of too tight when it's time to get it off...

I wanted to get a second harness so that I could go outside with my two conures and I was wondering if I should go for the x-small size?

Isn't it too large for ggc? I don't want to loss one of my bird.

Waiting for your next videos, I hope to see you ggc outside with his harness :)

  • @f0reverns The x-small was much more comfortable for him, so that is all I used once I got it. Once it is tightened up properly they won't get out of it. Plus, when you use positive reinforcment to train it, they enjoy the harness process, and as long as you go at the bird's speed they won't try to get out of it. Once it is looped under the wings, use the plastic slide to tighten it up until you can fit about 1 finger under the strap.

  • Great job !

He is very a good boy :)

    What size is your harness?

I have the "petite" size for my conures. But you seem to get it off its head to easily that I was wondering !!!

  • @f0reverns I started with the petite, but the head loop was so tight it was uncomfortable for him, so I switched to the x-small and that was much, much better. For our grey I use a large instead of the recommended medium too.

  • @bscavotto1 Thank you very much ! I do use positive reinforcment to train Litchi to wear the harness.

I used it on my first conure Mango and now she accept the harness without any problems ;)

I also use clicker training as it is more "fun" for them to work with that.
