Plant of the Week with Liam of Wildlife Gardening @ Waterloo Farmers' and Crafters' Market Cooperative
clients had wanted to replace their weedy lawn with a garden to grow their own fruits and vegetables as well as attract many varieties of birds and butterflies. This front yard now provides blueberries, strawberries, grapes, herbs for cooking, herbal teas, eventually apples, and annual vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers. By incorporating many native grasses and wildflowers that flower throughout the growing season it provides food and habitat for many types of winged creatures. The flagstone path has fragrant ground covers planted in between to release calming aromas when walked upon.
