MDIS 2011 Inspirational Talk:
World renowned Toastmaster, Mark Hunter has overcome many challenges since a water-skiing accident put him in a wheelchair over 30 years ago. But it is his most recent achievement that has brought him so much joy. He was crowned World Champion of Public Speaking in 2009 in Connecticut (USA), for a speech about living life with a disability and why he is such a passionate advocate for disability rights and access.
During an inspirational talk organised by MDIS on 25 May 2011, he shared that the determinants of success and great accomplishment do not solely originate from high Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ). Instead, having a high Adversity Quotient (AQ), is another factor that contributes to success as well.
AQ tells how well one withstands adversity and his ability to triumph over it. AQ is also known as "the capacity of the person to deal with the adversities of his life. As such, it is the science of human resilience."
Mark Hunter also taught the audience on how to face and tackle adversities in life; he also gave some examples as well.
my problem is every time i look in the mirror, i see a monkey. whether or not i make a fist i look like a monkey...how do i overcome this adversity, without having to undergo surgery...
