@AussieOldies I agree keep the old Aussie artists alive and singin mate....its all about a thing called "mateship" where we stuck together and watch out for each other..sadly I beieve what is known as "mateship" (as we knew it..) is dyin out. So is "family" for that matter! The Roo stays Put right?

@AussieOldies Can't see the big roo, John. Bit disappointed... however, I followed Sam Kekovich's advice and ate a lamb (you can't get more Aussie than the K-man). Admittedly, eating it was a little antithetical for me (having been a vegetarian for 35 years) but, just to show my national pride I didn't even cook it: just dolloped some White Crow over the poor bugger and chewed away despite the bleating. Coughing up wool-balls today... but it was worth it!
Brilliant song and one occasion where the cover is, in my opinion, better than the original Porgy and Bess recording. First time I heard this, I stopped as well. I still do.
Why this video has been so flagrantly flavoured with Australian patriotism is beyond me. I put it to AussieOldies and you, whoever you are reading this - music, like the air which circulates the globe, knows no national boundaries.

My name is John LHLH ,the whole point of my channel is to try and keep the music of oldies Australian artists alive ,much of which is very hard to find. The kangaroo is merely a recognisable symbol that represents the type of music on my channel .This layed back Roo is on all my videos. Lighten up!!

@AussieOldies Screw the idiots. I'm completely comfortable with the roo as symbol for 'Aussie'. Most of us (Aussies) are the either the direct progeny of other cultures or first/second (or merely a few generational) product of other cultures. To criticize on this puerile level is to refute the concept of being a part of a Nation-State. Within capitalist society, we have to draw on signifiers in order to draw on an understanding of 'culture'. We have to draw on symbolism to make cultural sense.
