  • The intention of the stretch mobilization is that the tight pec minor plays a role in the scapula being protracted and tilted anterir/inferiorly. Thus the stretch purpose is to lengthen the muscle by retracting the scapula then depressing, effectively providing a lengthing to this muscle.

  • I clicked on here from a thunderfoot video.... O.o I also clicked on it because it looked gore~like

  • I agree with christian1218. In addition, breathing out is important (lowering the ribs)- to obtain maximum stretch of this muscle.

  • can someone explain to me how depressing the scapula results in a pec minor stretch???

anatomically i believe this advice is incorrect! by depressing the scapula the coracoid process is being driven closer to the 5th rib thus shortening the pec minor muscle.

  • @christian1218 I am a therapist as well! You're absolutely right! It's so nice to have these videos, as long as we can distinguish between which techniques are right & wrong! I think MET's confuse a lot of people. It took me a long time to get them down pat. Several of my clients have been getting massage treatment by other therapists for years & never had MET work done. I think it's ESSENTIAL for dysfunctional muscles. I always wonder if there's a lack of training in my my region......

  • @amylynn36 There is sooo much info out there; some good some bad.. It is up to us to distinguish the two through our own clinical observations.. Are you a therapist as well?

  • @christian1218 Thank you for your comment! I was thinking the same thing!

  • Step 1) Have person in supine position

Step 2) Bring arm to 135 degrees of abduction

Step 3) Press arm towards the floor

Step 4) Clap as you have successfully stretched the pec minor.

  • Question... if the action of the pec minor is to depress/protract the scapula, then wouldn't you try to reverse the action-elevate/retract- to get full length on the muscle?
