@ImaginedWriter Yes but they were not organized into a systematic language and they might have been a few pictographs. What the professor is saying is that the earliest written LANGUAGE was first developed independently in Sumer. The scientists who found these bones are not even sure they are even a form of writing.

Signs carved into 8,600-year-old tortoise shells found in China may be the earliest written words, say archaeologists, this was discovered in 2003. The guy in this video died in 2000, shame it would have been nice to see him proven wrong.
