In March 2010, Bay of Rainbows Productions' Posie Currin and Nicole Vulcan traveled to Limbe, Haiti to document the work of Helping Hands Noramise, a Washington state-based service organization. Following the earthquake of January 2010, places like Limbe, far from the quake zone, have suffered from lack of infrastructure, jobs, and adequate food for the town's growing numbers. With many people returning from Port-au-Prince in the wake of the quake, the town, like many others is full of people waiting for change. Helping Hands Noramise engaged the people in building new gardens, fostering artistic partnerships, and cleaning the marketplace of their town. Work continues with a second trip in May 2010.
These photos are from my personal collection, exploring the stark contrast of life in Limbe with later shots of the idyllic Dominican Republic seaside. For more information, visit www.bayofrainbows.com
