A yearly festival to celebrate the music of Glenn Miller, in Clarinda, Iowa.
A mini-doc produced in 1996 highlighting the Glenn Miller Music Festival, held in Clarinda, Iowa. I was the director/editor, Izumi Tanaka the producer and a young Kory Kearney worked with us as production assistant.
Each year the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society puts on a fantastic 3 day festival, with bands and fans from around the world coming to pay tribute to this American music icon. The year this was filmed (super 16mm), 1996, Mr. Hideomi Aoki, one of the festival major benefactors, made arrangements for an all girl elementary school band from Japan to come and play - and they blew the audiences away with their enthusiasm and musicianship.
The live music heard here - Moonlight Serenade and Sunrise Serenade - was played by a band from Sweden, dressed as the Glenn Miller Army Airforce band would have been in that era.
I love the music and the festival. The 35th anniversary is coming up in 2010, might make for a quaint and unusual vacation visit to the heartland.
Siete benvenuto. Ciao a tutto in Turino! L'Italia è il mio paese favorito e l'alimento italiano è inoltre il mio favorito. Posso preparare un risotto molto buon e la pasta del cuoco cinque notti un la settimana.

What a dream! Great music, great people and places. One of my dreams is to come to Clarinda one day, being part of the audience and... share such beauty. Although I was born many years later I must say this music's anyway part of my life, shining like a star. I'm sure it's the same for so many people around the world. Glenn's music's absolutely magic. Thankyou so much for posting it.
Hello everybody there! from Torino, Italy.
