  • potential? haha your kidding right?he is pretty much the best in the world..

  • THIS IS A DRUM SOLO. IT'S ABOUT TECHNICALITY

    NOT GROOVING!

Thomas Lang CAN groove. What, you think he is a world class drummer and he only knows how to rip it up? You think when it comes to grooving he's got nothing? Newsflash: Grooves are the foundation of what he is doing here.

Don't make stupid judgments about drummers when you know nothing about them, and you have seen two videos.

  • This guy's my favorite drummer of all time. Definitely one of the best, well-rounded drummers. There's like no ostinatos that he can't play.

  • u can tell he has groove if u have ears....

  • @IwillPAWNu I am sorry, my apologies; you're right, I read your comment / observation out of context, I thought you were talking about Thomas Lang. Again, sorry!

  • @drummerplusone Not to burst your bubble, but I'm assuming you read my comment too quickly. I was referring to Portnoy from Dream Theater not being one of the best and you're lecturing me about Thomas Lang. I agree that Thomas Lang is top notch, I'm not disputing that. So if you're going to call me out, at least read my entire comment first.

  • @IwillPAWNu With all due respect you have no clue what you're talking about. I however do, because I studied drums for many years (Jazz, Fusion, Funk, Rock, Latin, R&B), I read and write music. Let me tell u about Lang: He picked up a stick when he was 5. Years of lessons & practice turned him into a master. He was the youngest student at Vienna Conservatory of Music. He studied Jazz, Classical, Fusion, & big band. Musicality, creativity, interdependence, control & timing; He is the man.

  • @metaldrummer12345 He is definitely not one of the world's best. Don't get me wrong, he is in my top favorite drummers, I just honestly don't think he's nearly as talented as a lot of the other drummers out there. It's impressive that he can play for a band like Dream Theater, it's just that his part writing for a song isn't super impressive and he tends to use one fill over and over.

  • @IwillPAWNu

    you are kidding, right?

portnoy is one of the worlds best.

also, its not about fast drumming its about the whole package which inludes songwriting, great drumming and having personality.

  • that'd be sweet if he was in Dream Theater, then the drummer would be equally as talented as the rest of the band. Portnoy just isn't as good at drums as petrucci is at guitar or as rudess is at keys.
