I had to walk away from tone wheels for a few years, discover Wurlitzer and a few others, now when i play tone wheels I hear them completely different, and play them completely different too. Remember, if you ever get Hammond burn out, it's NOT the organ. It was in playing other organ sounds that conditioned me to slightly different playing techniques and the 9 key contact Hammond is able to translate these subtleties. I recommend listening to Jesse Crawford's Hammond playing- album>my uploads:)

I like both but the Nord has the Hammond on the versatility of sounds. The Hammond features "leakage" which you can simulate on the Nord by adjusting the overdrive and bass. Out the box, the Nord is a much more all around instrument and it's only 21lbs! BTW I own both keyboards and the Korg CX-3.

really good comparison... really appreciate you posting this

The Nord has a fantastic Wulitzer program to boot!

the north rules

This nord has nothing to do with the real hammond sound

where is the creativity with nord ? HAMMOND is so much better and remember grows old rather well ! (and is very easy to sell in 2nd hand)
What is your opinion between the two? I own an XK3c myself. Thanks : )

Clavia.. good for stage and recording... bad for a real leslie (no simulation on)... XB-1 great for the real leslie but.. not so great on a real stage if not leslie present... and XB-1 is more of a greasy sound, regardless if i use any of the sounding (mellow, b3, bright) compared to the clavia, sometimes that's better... Clavia lacks reverb (at least this version.. the NE3 has got it).. but it's light to carry round and it has a very good rhodes simulation... hammond is ... well organ :)

@r3dmax I know that the XK series has extra sound patches of rhodes and Clavinets. Does the XB-1 have any other sounds than the organ? Also, what do you mean by greasy? smooth, less bite?

@dzlvs8 no extra sounds... greasy... not so trebblish, more in the middle tones
