There haven't been many greek souls in the city since 1453. Thats 500 years ago.
500 years ago the North American continent was Native American. Using your logic we can call the United States a great Native American country, but we both know it's not.

@GoKcETR90 The city is indeed called Istanbul today, but most Greeks keep calling it Constantinople; IMO they have the right to do so, because it has a historical significance for them and because every nation uses to call other cities and states with names in their own language. Why do call Germany "Almanya" and not "Deutschland"?
BUT, you should also know that for the Turks the City was named Kostantiniyye since 1453 until 1923. Only the lower social classes used to call it Istanbul.
