get ready to meet your new best friend.

his name is jong won.

he loves foreigners, and he loves canada too.

he says canada and korea are not all that different. "we are the world" he said.

this video is a satire of how confusing and hilarious the experience as a foreigner can be.

i filmed this at a restaurant in cheong-ju, south korea.

I don't claim any rights to the music or the lyrics. I just think this song suits the mood.

  • That's you... Korean's usually display the feeling of displeasure unlike the Japanese and Chinese. How do I know? I've lived in all 3 countries so I know =)

  • i think that's mostly chinese and japanese. japanese people will certainly never tell you exactly how they feel and chinese people are so damm secretive. you can ask the owner of a chinese business if they are the owner and they'll tell you "no" cuz they are so secretive. koreans on the other hand are a bit more blunt. sometimes too blunt.

Yea I agree, I work at a Japanese restaurant run by chinese... my boss is secretive too!

He fires peoples for anything, looks or just not complimenting or talking to people alot.

Not understanding that people dont want to be talked to or complimented all-the-time.

  • Reminds me of visiting a former (Korean) college roommate in Seoul. I felt like a huge Viking. I am blonde but "normal" stature & weight, but I felt HUGE. Adults didn't stare but children did, embarrassing their parents. I also had this guy come up on the street begging me to "make conversation". My friend told him he was weird & to go away but I thought it was just that he didn't get this opportunity a lot and wanted to practice his English. Overall I felt so welcomed in Korea. Great food!!!

  • i'm just back from korea after being there for 4 weeks with my girlfriend (who is korean)... beautiful country and I cannot wait to go back there again... Everyone was so nice to me... in the smaller cities like Wonju people tend to stare at you a lot... but they are really nice people

  • After seeing so many things about Korea (a really beautiful country, i think) I am getting a little intimidated and wonder if I should go there. I am seventeen and hopefully in a few years will be able to travel there and experience their wonderful culture, but can someone tell me how life is there...without any bias? :) thank u

  • @Lunatic4Bizcas There are 50 million Koreans in Korea, and millions more living abroad. Don't judge a whole race simply from a few bad experience that you had. Get it?

  • u guys were having fun :D

  • nah im nor just got about 2months ago very nice place. I stayed two nights before left to Europe and will go again in 8months time
