I'm a Union Electrician IBEW

I, and many of my brothers, would vote for a optional reduced health care plan in order to avoid the tax, and trade the cadillac plan for higher wages.

That would be a clever way to avoid the tax and have some leverage to negotiate for higher wages. Another plan that would benefit the union tradesmen would be to reduce the burden of government taxes and regulations and the demand for new construction would rise. Get the illegal aliens out of the construction trades and your wages would rise also. It is like the Democrats drill holes in your boat then try to sell you a bucket and expect you to be grateful.

The tax on "cadillac" plans has been changed to exclude health care plans resulting from collective bargaining (such as union contracts).

Voting for Brown will mean congress will have to pass the senate bill without any changes, meaning this exemption won't be in the bill - and the cadillac tax will apply to union workers.

Additionally, if Scott Brown wins, Dems will desert the health care bill like rats from a sinking ship and very little will get passed. Dems will not risk their re-election chances by pulling such a blatant manuever. A Scott Brown win would be the best thing for the Dems.
