View a video on the benefits of conservation tillage, including soil erosion control and reduced greenhouse gas emission. Conservation tillage is also referred to as no till farming or reduced plowing.
Good for the environment, yet you have to use herbicides to sustain no-till. We no-till most of our fields, because it is more economical for us. Less fuel because of less passes on the field, and we have hilly ground, so no-till is almost a must in that kind of ground. But on the level/gently rolling hills, and you have proper waterways, tilling shouldn't erode the soil too badly. Organic farmers still do conventional tilling, and it helps quite a bit with weed control and soil aeration.
WTF do people have against weeds???
