I usually like your stuff, but condescending pieces like this are why I hate postmodernists and poststructuralists. Your interpretations of this movie are uncharitable and often inapplicable, and it seems like you're using the Marxist and Freudian hermeneutics to intellectually rationalize your personal distaste for the genre.

People were offended because what he said about the movie was simply incorrect. How does a person being offended make something true? Is that like when religious people say the reason I talk about god and jesus and stuff all the time is because I unconciously believe in him when I am, in fact, an atheist? This unfortunately happens on so many forms of media. Take like the top 10 most popular Video games right now. The plot-lines are so bland and vague they're absolutely horrendous. Like even critically acclaimed games like Skyrim.
