  • I loved the paintings of the Altai and the SHankar work. Read about Nicholas Roerich, unknown to me previously. An amazing and inspiring star.

  • @lisa8220 Thank you for your comment and appreciation. For me as well, both artists are important visionaries...I am grateful you shared your thoughts and it is great to hear from you.

  • Who is this Ravi Shankar dude? Does this concerto have a particular form? And why are the harmonies so scarce? the melodic line is carrying the entire concerto, with occasional take-overs by the rythmic pulses, but lacks good harmonic foundations..

  • @ai1888 This is primarily Indian music, not "Western" music, and it deals with dimensions of sound very different from Western "harmonic foundations". As Ravi Shankar states "the harmonic and contrapuntal structure will not be...so dense and heavy as to blur or kill the beauty of the ragas. The work is titled "Raga-Mala" (Garland of Ragas) which develops a multi-faceted language capable of expanding the sensibilites of the "Western" ear.

  • Interesting fusion of Classical Indian and Vestern music, Ravi is such an interesting musician one the greatest ever.

  • @ornleifs Thank you so much for the comment. I agree with you completely, also of mention, from my point of view, the works of Roerich are also a fusion of many elements East and West. For me, the two artists seem to be made for one another.

  • @Janice11353 Thank you so much for your comment and interest in Roerich. If you happen to be in New York any time in the future, the Roerich Museum is great, 319 West 107th Street, New York, NY 10025, and online computer sites are wonderful as well.

  • Thank you for sharing this. I'm now interested in knowing more on the artist:

Nikolai Konstantinovich Rerikh/Nicholas Roerich. The work has a dream like quality.
