Viola Concerto in G minor-3.Allegro con fuoco Composed by Cecil Forsyth Performed by Glasgow BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with Lawrence Power Conducted by Martyn Brabbins
@JJRaff18221882 No need 2 apologize, i wasnt offended, i think i was just pissed off at the moment (i have a short temper :P). Im just pointin out things that other ppl pointed out 2 me before i musicaly matured a bit. Im the 1 who should apologize, i was a bit harsh. But still even though im defending Bartok that doesnt mean i understand all of his works. Still have alot of maturing 2 do myself. But not understanding something doesnt mean its not good. Also...discussing tastes is pointless. :D
@BaalWithin Yes, maybe you are right, Baal. I guess I meant to say it the way you did - Bartok doesn't suit me. I admit I'm NOT an intellectual where music is concerned. I'm not unlike Brahms who wouldn't embrace the so-called "Music of the Future". I dropped out of music school due to being force-fed things I couldn't swallow. I don't like anything beyond the tone world of R. Strauss - and even he is hard to listen to for me at times. I apologize if you were offended by my remarks (-:
@JJRaff18221882 Ok only 1 thing...sayin Bartok is crap is stupid. Only some1 who doesnt understand his music can say such a thing. And thats talkin shit about something u dont know. If u said that u dont like Bartok, or that his music doesnt suit u...that would be a different thing.
@JJRaff18221882 You have a point but this piece wasn't ignored. It was performed at the BBC Proms in 1903. So even though you have point, this should be ignored, but it wasn't. Btw I also like the Hans Sitts viola pieces :)
One thing that really grinds my gears is that the likes of Lionel Tertis and Rebecca Clarke et. al. virtually ignored this work; had they championed it instead of that more modern crap (i.e. "John-Boy" Walton, Piston or Bartok) then this might not have had to wait an entire century to be revived. How long are we going to have to wait for Hans Sitt's concerted viola works to see the light of day?????
Lawrence Power rules... his Bowen sonata recordings are so inspiring...
