Re: Wicca is witchcraft and witchcraft is evil

The video here is a reading the entirety of the comments I left on Shockawenow's video 'Wicca is witchcraft and witchcraft is evil'. He screens all the comments for that video and he decided that an intelligent Pagan was too much for him to deal with, so he blocked my comments. Not only that, he removed the comments of InaraWitchGirl, a person who was polite and respectful in her comments. As if blocking our comments wasn't bad enough, he also left rude and disrespectful comments on Inara's profile page. Please read this whole description to understand the entire situation.

Let me clarify -- I am not attacking Shockawenow's religion. He's a Christian, that is fine with me. I am criticizing his actions towards other people.

Shockawenow has been a member of Youtube since September 14, 2006. Until I left the following comment (the beginning portion of the comments I originally left on his video, since I suspected he would screen my comments out) on his profile page early on the morning of July 5, 2008, he allowed everyone to comment on his profile.

"Shockawenow -- First off, I have to say that your response to Inara shows a level of snootiness which I believed Christ did not want in his followers. My parents are both Christian, they are shocked at how rude you have been to the Wiccans who have commented on your 'Wicca is witchcraft and witchcraft is evil' video, especially considering how polite and accepting Inara was to you in her comment.

As for your assumption that Pagans/Wiccans are uneducated, I will speak for myself. I'm a BA holder in Fine Arts who runs a successful jewelry business. Do I fit into your stereotype?"

When I checked back this afternoon I noticed that my comment had been removed from his profile page. I tried to see about leaving another comment on his profile and, as of 630pm Pacific Standard Time, July 5 2008, he only allows friends to leave comments on his profile page. I believe Shockawenow has made this choice now, rather than when he first joined Youtube, because, until this point, he didn't have to deal with the fact that there are intelligent, University educated Pagans in the world who are willing to stand up to his brand of misinformed hatred.

Now that Shockawenow has seen an example of an intelligent, confident Pagan, does he show the love and understanding which Christ teaches? No, he removed the comments I left on his video 'Wicca is witchcraft and witchcraft is evil'. Not only that, but he removed Inara's comments, even though she was polite and respectful to him. I think he removed the comments because he was rude in his response to her. Unfortunately for him, he forgot that he left those same rude comments on her profile page. Here are the comments he left for her:

"Hey you left a comment on my site but your spelling was horrible. I suggest you spend less time "playing pretend witch games" and more time in the real world or you will not get a good paying job. Leave the witch and goblins stuff to little kids or mental patients..but if you are an adult..grow up."

Those comments are a toned down version of the comments he left on the comment thread of his 'Wicca' video. You can find Shockawenow's ill-tempered comments by visiting the profile page of InaraWiccaGirl. I only wish I had taken a screen capture of the original comments he left for her on the 'Wicca is witchcraft and witchcraft is evil' video.

Edit: As of 13 minutes ago (7:28pm PST July 5th, 2008), Shockawenow denied my response to 'Wicca is witchcraft and witchcraft is evil' video. I wonder ... why is he so hateful to a peaceful group of people?

Edit #2: 12:36AM PST, I sent Shockawenow a private message telling him that he couldn't purge his actions so easily as to remove his video and the comments from his profile page. I told him he should apologize to Inara and I sent him a link to this video. This is the response he sent me: "Be gone witch, you are evil. Repent for the end is near."

I replied with the following: "Ah, but there's a flaw in your name-calling - I'm not a Wiccan, I'm a Pagan. Pagan being someone who doesn't follow one of the Abrahamic faiths.

Also, you haven't bothered to address the fact that other Christians are ashamed of your actions. Nor even the fact that your hatred goes against what your Christ teaches. Besides, you say that Wiccans can be saved, right? And yet, when you thought I was Wiccan, a 'witch', you called me evil. Can evil be saved?

And so you are also a hypocrite.

Pity."

He's also left a comment on my profile page. Instead of addressing the points I make from his own Bible, he chooses to hide behind hatred and fear (not to mention misconception - Shockawenow thinks I'm a Wiccan when I've clearly stated that I'm a Pagan, someone who doesn't follow the Abrahamic faiths).

This conversation could get interesting. :)

@candyberriche There are many schools, many belief systems, and many different Gods, Goddesses, and other beings to choose from. I'd suggest you start with some of the 'Intro to Paganism' and 'Intro to Wicca' videos here, as well as some basic books (silly as it may sound, The Idiot's Guide series has some good books on the basics), and then work your way from there.

Just because some christains are not following the word doesn't mean we are all the same......I respect all people of there faith and you guys are only looking at one side of the christian teachings yes it says love thy naghbor and so on (forgive my spelling plz) but there are more verses I think that can help clear up why certain christain act the way they do towards wiccan believers. Like I said. I respect people for who they are as people not faith. Just a thought. I try not to generalize

ok so i mean no harm to people here of any religion, but um arnt christians supposed to be kind and understanding? see in my opinion on what your doing is offencive to other religions, i for one am christian but i dont force that on other people, i actually encourage other relgions because if you ever even dicided to go out of your chirstian idealist box and look at other relgions you would see that other relgions in some way shape or form warship god just not threw jesus christ.

"Pagan" like the word "Christian" is a very large umbrella term that encompasses many different faiths. Under Christian you'd have Episcopalian, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, Lutheran, etc. Whereas under Pagan you would have Odinism, Shinto, Tao, Hinduism, Hellenism, Native American, etc. Pagan has been used as pejorative for centuries, so a new label should be used.
