DVD is available at JourneyIntoTibet.com Part two of the two hour version of "Journey into Tibet with Robert Thurman." Special thanks to TibetHouse.org in NY on behalf of the Tibetan people and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, we are making this video free to the public, for those who care about Tibet, who care about the Tibetan people, and have a desire to see Tibet for themselves. This film visits Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse, Lake Mansarovar and does a trip around Mt. Kailash with renowned Tibetan scholar Dr. Robert Thurman of Columbia University. Special thanks to Ganden and Nena Thurman of Tibet House, Sanjay Saxena, the Tibetan Tour Guide, Geographic Expeditions of SF, tour sponsor, Josh Davidow, editor, The Nechung Monks for the music (CD at CDbaby) and all the people who graciously allowed us to film them in this documentary. Please visit TibetHouse.org and make a donation to the Tibetan people. Taishe Delek and Long Live Tibet.«

  • When they arrive at the Samye Monastery, there is a chapel named Gonkhang, do you know the names of the deities in that chappel, the protectors?

  • "To the right of the assembly hall is the Gonkhang, a protector chapel, with eerie statues of former Bon demons that were turned into fierce Buddhist protector deities." Google Bon and you'll find who these statues were of before they were wrestled into submission by Padmasambhava during his great Bon v Buddhist debate. I think after the debate, the Bon moved to America and became Native Americans - apache for example, who also use the swatstika (symbol of eternity)
