A few years after I retired from the Army, I ran into one of my former troops. After the usual pleasantries, he said something to me that I will never forget. He made a comment that I never did anything for myself and that I was always looking after the troops. My response was "that is what an NCO is suposed to do".

Maj Dick Winters is an Officer who embodies the example ALL officers should strive emulate, regardless of nationality. Tactically gifted, technically excellent, mindful of his responsibility to his men, physically and mentally tough and one of the bravest of the brave in that Band of Brothers. I salute you Sir, and attempt to live up to the standards you set, which are still THE standard to meet.
