Pearl Jam - Incubus - Kings of Leon At Nijmegen http://www.pearljaminthepark.nl/ Eddie with a special thanks and they played "Better Man" especially for the mother and sister of Frank Nouwens.
Tragic so tragic, being a big fan of Pearl Jam I can tell you this affected the band so badly and very nearly came to calling it quits. They didn't thankfully but having said that they will always remember those that were lost at Roskilde inc Frank. If at all possible some good came from Roskilde as the band now ensure massive safety measures are in place for all their gigs even though they were not at fault. This was 1st introduced at Reading in 2006 I believe and continues now! RIP the 9.
I will never forget the devastation in Eddie Vedders voice when he tried to get people to step back from the stage. He encouraged everyone to take three steps back on his count. He tried numerous times without succeeding to relieve the pressure up front by 60000+ people standing in the mud packed like sardines, unable to move without slipping. When he realised it was an impossible feat he sad "well fuck you" and sad down with his head in his hands.
I think I will never forget that name. I didn't know him personally but I must have met him at an event for the band Krezip. I went to see PJ in Copenhagen but this moment in Nijmegen really got to me. Amazing moment. My best wishes to all who knew Frank and the others affected by this tragedy.
Me too ...speechless.. in 2000 I saw them play at Pinkpop and later we would go to Ahoy, but was defistated when I heard what had happened and friends of mine were there too. Awful... You're all in our thoughts....
