A Plastic Plate- Gay person with HIVAids in an Arab culture

It is the eid (Sham El Nesem - or Spring Feast) and an Egyptian family is sitting down to have a festive meal. Everyone is asking and inquiring: will he come? Are you going to allow him to come? What are you going to do? Will he bring his guy friend with him? Disapproval and sorrow are manifest on everyone's face. Meanwhile, in front of a mirror, where we hear a voice-over of a young man, talking about wanting to go home for the last time. His mother allowed him to come home. His sisters and his brothers are reluctant. He goes in and there is awkwardness in the air. When they sit down to the meal, he has plastic, disposable utensils while everyone else has china plates. To leave a positive message in the end, according to the advice of Dr. Ehab, the project consultant, we added a shot where one of the cousins is sharing his plate with him.

i pray for theose kinds of people to be cured soon. oh? u think i mean AIDS? no. i mean the ignorant people to be cured from their disease of hatred, fear, and disgustingness.

arabs in general (those who are not really westernized like i am) are so conservative it's ironic that conservative americans killed millions of them because they believe the same things: no gays, no interracial marriage, women are girly girls always, etc.

My brother died of AIDS at the age of 28. We were very close. He was a beautiful person and went through absolute torture.....hell. It was horrible the way "christians" treated my brother. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in a Muslim country and get AIDS.

Compassion? Where is it? If "religion" teaches ANYTHING....is it "love"????
