Border Collie Rescue - Open Your Eyes

Border Collie Rescue UK shares concerns about the global issues of the abuse of canines and other species along with many other members of the rescue world.

These concerns are broader than those factors that immediately affect the Border Collie or working sheepdog and apply to the way we humans treat the creatures we have 'control' over and how we exploit their lives to enrich our own.

We detect a certain one sided relationship and imbalance, where man sees opportunity but fails to take responsibility.

This video offering simply asks the viewer to open their eyes, look around and be aware - and encourages positive action to address the imbalance.

Although we are Border Collie Rescue and therefore specialise in the Border Collie, the attitudes that affect all species also affect our breed.

Some of the images shown in this video are distressing - but nowhere near as bad to look at as it was to be the subject.

There are also very nice, positive images of Border Collies enjoying themselves.

For those who seem to think that we should be not be concentrating on our own breed in the imagery and should have included other species or breeds - not just the Border Collie - well we must work within our remit and we are set up for that breed - however the message of the video is broadly encompasing all species subjected to mans misuse in all countries.
We say - open your eyes. 'Wake up and look around you'.
'take a stand against abuse - in all its forms - anywhere in the world.
Now if that is not broad enough a message - what is?

I am against dog killing, but have you ever thought that some of the dogs might be feral enough to attack people on sight? I wouldn't be suprised to see that in low class towns.

We would not be surprised to see that anywhere. People should defend their families and community against danger.

Again, it is how it is done that arouses criticism and disgust.

Feral populations can be reduced and eliminated without cruelty.

Every country still has problems with individuals or subcultures that abuse animals. Some are worse off than others.

Governments that foster a culture of animal abuse need reminding that other cultures disapprove or they will have no incentive to change.

Where did you get these clips. And the pictures...they are really depressing, and I wish this to stop of humans doing this to animals. It's so sad how if there is a lot of humans...they tear down a forest and build an apartment on top of it. But when there is too much of one kind of animal. They start killing it. I would love to help animals and exterminate some of the human race. We must be strong and help the animals! Anyway nice video.

Fuck asia, America does alot to prevent cruelty. just like the UK, the US loves its dogs and all animals in general. I myself am asian, but i hate my country of origin because they treat animals poorly. i am a proud dog owner in he US. fuck china, korea, and all the other animal abusers

This video is beautifully done. While in some countries they may eat dog meat, there is never any reason to abuse any creature prior to putting it down. We as humans have lost the understanding that we need to honor that which sustains us, not terrorize a creature prior to its slaughter. For that, we will reap what we sow.

Oh don't get me wrong, I accept everything you say. That comment was aimed in the direction of other viewers who respond with "aww, look at the poor dogs". While they're right to do that, I just want to highlight that this happens to the meat they eat so casually, yet they continue to do so. We get hung up on 'morals' don't we?

One persons 'moral' is anothers 'no-way''.

Those who want to eat chickens, goats, cows, pigs, dogs , cats, guinea pigs, rats or pidgeons are free to choose to. Those who dont - won't.

Many eat what they can get - no choice.

So make YOUR choice. Live by your concience. Tolerate other opinions.

Try to get the point of the video. It's about abuse, cruelty - deliberate malice.

It provides information.

Not to judge what IS done. More THE WAY IT IS done.
