when my cousin wanted me to try Smash bros I asked what kind of game it was first. when he said it was a fighting game, I thought of stuff like Marvel vs Capcom/Street fighter. so I just said "no, I dont really like fighting games." then he said "Ness is in it." and I was like "OK!!!" but besides people that played EB first, yes, alot of people DO play EB because they saw the Ness in Smash Bros. BTW, this is MOTHER 1. not Earthbound. Ness isn't even in this game. It's Ninten.

That's not true. Even though I was introduced to EarthBound through Smash Bros., I eventually liked EarthBound because OF EarthBound.

@retrogamer500 *Continued* for those steep prices, I may have played it simply because of My curiousity but I love it too, and Giygas is at the top of My list for awesome video game bosses, besides I think the people who are introduced through Smash have a right to be curious and find out Ness and Lucas' origins, I mean this series needs all the attention it can get because it certainly doesn't get it from the American or European sides of Nintendo.

@retrogamer500 *Continued* I didn't even know what the game Yoshi's Island was until I saw it on Nintendo's old official website during the N64 era and didn't get to actually own it until the GBA port came out. Anyways I may have learned of Earthbound through the first Super Smash Bros. but I'm just as much a fan of it as anyone else, its just its kind of expensive and I live in California in San Diego County so we don't exactly have the money to buy the game off eBay for those steep *2bcont.*

@retrogamer500 I know I'm a little late but I had a Sega Genesis(Megadrive for those of you outside the U.S.) growing up, and I only knew about a select few Mario and Kirby games that were on the Gameboy and SNES, I never did have a SNES and I really didn't know about Earthbound at all because I never did see the advertising and there was no TV commercial that aired on major stations, I didn't even know what the game Yoshi's Island was until I saw it on Nintendo's old official website *2bcont.

Ah...... I remember hearing this tune in Smash Bros. Melee and desperately wanting to know where this magical song came from. Nearly 10 years later as a diehard fan of the Mother series I must say I'm glad I found out.
