@PointyTail I thought of him as an abstract singer, in the same way that you get abstract painters.

I don't understand this music.

It's great that everyone likes this but sweet jesus.

He looks like a black Paul Newman.

Wonder if Leon Redbone got some of his inspiration from this guy... there is sort of the same kind of rasp in Redbone's vocal delivery, maybe a bit of the same kind of eccentric phrasing.

Oakpark, I am thinking that he wasn't al interested in the lyrics, but in the melodies of the songs. He does this same thing with most of his work that I have heard. This dudes guitar playing is nothing short of amazing. You just gotta get through the vocals is all...

Pure canned joy. Lovely. And truly inspired 'bird' pronunciation. I've loved Joseph Spence for nearly 30 years but hadn't heard this one before...thanks
OK, I love this guy now! Talk about stream of thought guitar!

This song opened my mind up to diminished chords. I found the sheet music and chords in my mother's piano stool as a kid. The singer player must be a buried treasure. He's so fascinatingly original. Obviously great.
