@Powell415 lol

Here is what happened: The helicopter was hired to erect that steel tower for a Christmas tree, he could not release the cable and lowered the helicopter so someone could tug on the cable. You can see the guy under the helicopter pulling at the lowest point of the cable at 1:12 , causing the side that is connected to the top tower to come closer and one of the rotor blades caught it, you can see it attached to the rotor that points to the right after it comes to rest. I'd say that dude caused it

good interview.
-
@TheArfdog Youtube search "Construction helicopters" It's a thing.
-
Pretty dumb to allow a heli to operate in a construction zone. Good job NZ.
-
@halnwheels You can see it a lot better in the closer video. the groundsman was flicking it around for some reason. Looks like he flicked it just a bit too much. Pretty cool of the pilot not to just out and say that until the report is out.
-
@PitbullNL He just finished putting the tower there, and they were releasing the tether line.
-
why did he flew so damn close to the pole in the first place?
the reason they didnt show the pilots seat.... it had a large brown stain....

@daggw03d I do agree with you: these guys were all very lucky. but they all call him 'the luckiest men alive' which i just find weird. Imagine: He says: 'I've just crushed with my helicopter' and the response is: 'you are so lucky'
Sure he was lucky but still he's probably gonna need some sort of counseling. I think the luckiest people alive are those who are in traffic everyday and never get into an accident and can just live there life happily. it's the luck that you don't see.
