  • Debussy, at the 1903 premiere was quoted saying, "Monsieur Vierne's Symphony is truly remarkable; it combines abundant musicianship with the cleverest use of the instrument's special sonority. Old J.S. Bach, the father of us all, would have been pleased with Monsieur Vierne.

And indeed Vierne would have to say something similar about Albinas, his abundant musicianship and clever use of the instrument. Old Vierne would have surely been pleased and proud!

  • The independence in which Albinas executes the two almost humorous melodies of the Scherzo, along with his foot work, are astounding. The chromaticism, the treble ostinato's, the two melodies working at times against each other, and the many modulations are executed with flawless precision.

    Play on!

  • That's the Scherzo from Symphony No.2 by Louis Vierne.
