At a time when the nation is living under the shadow of fear, especially after the terror attacks in Mumbai, people across the country have pointed fingers at VIP security, raising the question: Do we need to pay for their security when civilians are not safe? Experts however say downing even VIP vigil could only be more disastrous. They propose that armed security should be paid for by the individuals. Chandrababu Naidu, the only politician in Andhra Pradesh who is guarded by NSG Black Cats ever since he survived an assassination attempt by Naxals in 2003, says the government is duty-bound to provide him security.
