Seussical the Musical - Part 5 - Amazing Mayzie, Amazing Gertrude, Monkey Around, Chasing the Whos

Part 5

This is our interperetation of Seussical the Musical, performed by myself and the rest of my Musical Theatre class. It basically the real deal, with a little 80's rock theme added and a few scenes taken out. This was filmed by another one of our actors parents, not mine. Special thanks goes out to Shelli Delgado and her parents for providing this footage for me.

This was performend at NOHS on May 15th and 16th, 2009

We spent about 5 months rehersing for an hour and a half 2 - 3 times a week during school, so considering our limited time, I think we came together quite well. We all had a lot of fun doing a great show like this. It was really great to be be in a class filled with so many funny and talented people, it made my first real on-stage experience really amazing.

This was our May 15th performance, meaning it was our FIRST performance in front of an audience. As a small warning we were having a bit of mic trouble in a few places, so I'll try to place subtitles where necessary.

This performance is quite good. My school is putting this musical on, first showing is in 6 days. Did you guys use a live pit orchestra, or a recording of the music?

@animelova360 Also if you can during the tantrum part, roll on the floor stomp your feet pound your fists on the floor, anything that will look like you are seriously throwing a huge tantrum.

@animelova360 I didn't use the same exact voice as the recording. It was something like it. At the very beginning I was very shy just like I believe that she was, but once she got her pills, I was like jumping around and just super excited. 'Amazing Gertrude' was my favorite song that I performed just because it had such high energy. Remember if the audience doesn't have super high energy you have to work that much harder to make them excited. But with that make sure you don't upstage people.

@Liscos12 I just got Gertrude for my school's performance. Did you use the same sounding voice like in the professional recording? Also, how did you portray her, as in how she acts? Thanks! Want to get a good idea.

Also, does anyone know what the thing on Gertrude's back in the video is? Is that the feather? it looks more like a backpack...

When I did this I was Miss Gertrude McFuzz and with playing her you need to have so much energy you are exhausted by the time you get done with the show. If not there is no way to capture your audience. Make sure you have a tantrum and don't just do the pee pee dance. Sorry if this seems mean but this part is very hard and I know.
