@jeddak5 i tried to listen to atlantis when i first started to see the sun, and it definately can be considered free.... not very listenable at all.... this songs sick though

I have always been amazed that Ra gets pigeon holed into the "free jazz" phenomenon. His stuff usually doesn't strike me as free at all, but very tightly arranged and melodic as with this tune. And if you can get to the point where you really dig this kind of thing it makes it much easier to follow the more avant garde numbers.

The intro seems like it could belong to a song with a completely different mood to it. I love how Sun Ra lead it into such an unexpected change. At least, for me it was unexpected.
