Grand Funk Railroad performing Heartbreaker @ Madison Square Garden 12/23/72. The special Christmas show that was recorded for the 'In Concert' series. Yes, this is the real deal, the Grand Funk Railroad we all love with Mark Farner on lead vocals, guitar, & keyboard. This video captures some of the magic that was GFRxR. Once I had a little girl, sometimes I think about her,
But, buddy, you know shes not really there.
When memories do call, I just, I just cant live without her
But tryin all the time is so hard to bear.

Chorus
Heartbreaker, cant take her,
Heartbreaker, bringing me down.
Heartbreaker, cant take her,
Heartbreaker, bringing me down.

I dont cry no more, I live while Im flying,
But Ill think back, and you can hear me say:

Chorus

  • WITH CHANGE COMES CONTROVERSY!

Grand Funk Railroad ushered in the 1970's with change & until this day are misunderstood for it.

GFRxR brought the 3 man power band to the masses & have been condemned for it ever since.

The critics panned this band from the start for everything from their look (Farner's hair) to calling their instruments junk (Farner's $200 Messenger Guitar.)

Many said they never paid their dues.

HOWEVER NUMBERS DON'T LIE, EVER. 10 CONSECUTIVE PLATINUM ALBUMS!!!!

  • schacher's bass never stops blowing me away. and the harmonies of don and mark are simply the best live. and the faux ending on this tune, it's like one of the best ballads ever written.

  • mark was my idol long hair bicep braclet great voice a good guitarist long live funk watch grammys last nite what happen to true musicians and rock

  • que recuerdos de la niñez

  • True musicians and musical geniuses. Very few of the bands that get all of the press and marketing and hype from that era stand up to these guys...

  • @PackedFunk

As far as who brought the power trio to the masses, I think Experience and Cream would have per-empted GFR.

  • Mark could write a great song and had a hell of a voice.

  • FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

  • @PackedFunk WHY? What was wrong with his HAIR of all things? I'm wondering when people can get past things like that. HE IS THE ONE WEARING THE HAIR- if they don't like it- DON"T WEAR IT.

I used to go round and round with this argument......from eyeliner to hair to boots!

  • loved this band in the early yrs then it became to commercialized.

How do u go from Heartbreaker to freaking Locomotion and that dreadful Bad Time??? And the almighty:"We are a Commercialized Band." Give me an effin break. U guys ruined it for me

  • This band Frikn oozed with hard rock. Aces!!
