This is my 72 gallon Bowfront Mixed reef tank. Tank is equipped with: Euroreef RS100 skimmer Calcium Reactor Carbon Reactor Deep Sand bed(Caribsea sugar grain) 2 x 150 Watt HQI metal halide 14000 Phoenix Bulbs 2 x High Output T5s Reefkeeper Controller
hey thanks for posting this video! I have a question for you though, do you have problems with nitrate due to a thick sand bed?? the people at my LFS are saying that I should take out my sand because of my problems with nitrate (they are really high). what do you think about the sand?
When you are thinking of using a sandbed you should either go 4inches or deeper(DSB DeepSandBed) to create areas of anaerobic bacteria to help remove nitrate or a shallow sandbed with regular siphoning to clean the surface of the bed.
In my case I used 5 inch deep sand bed with nessarious snails to help keep the bed fresh and clean. My nitrates are down to 5ppm. HTH
