Mets Win the World Series 1969

October 16, 1969 New York City goes nuts when underdog Mets win their first World Series against the Baltimore Orioles. The games were still played in the afternoons then. Transistor radios were on in almost every office in every building. We were at work when the cheers came over the radio. This was a spontaneous ticker tape parade, except on EVERY street in Manhattan. ...and no parade! The Mets were most likely, at the time, in their locker room celebrating. The final score of the Fifth game was 3 - 5 Mets
