Test details:

The Scion tC was introduced in the 2005 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. During rebound, the dummy's head hit the roof rail and grab handle.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the neck and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the right tibia indicate that injuries to the lower leg would be possible. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the steering wheel through the airbag, indicating that head injuries would be possible. Head acceleration from the roof rail/grab handle hit was low. (Note: during the test, some injury data from the neck was not obtained, but after the Institute reviewed comparable test data from Toyota, the head/neck injury rating was not changed.)

I just got in to a car crash with my Scion tC.

The hit was on my driver side door. The car is totaled. I am alive with no injuries except for minor bruises and gashes on my left hand from the glass.

3 Air bags deployed saving my life. The steering wheel air bag, the driver door air bag, and the side seat air bag.

A semi truck tboned me at 90MPH at an Arizona Interstate after another semitruck pushed me off the road because he fell asleep. I'm still alive with no major or minor injuries (only mental shock). Perfect car.

My TC without a doubt saved my life I hit head on at 65 mph I wouldn't doubt its safety for a second.

@terrysan why would your steering wheel airbag deploy? thats kinda pointless if you get hit in the side
