On June 18, 2006, Kevan got up, had a coffee with his wife, kissed his kids goodbye, drove to work, and never came home again. While trying to do his job as a farm worker, Kevan was killed by several tons of falling grain. A public inquiry investigated Kevans death, and called for farm workers to be covered by Albertas Occupational Health and Safety Act, but the Alberta government doesnt seem interested in the inquirys recommendations.

Hard for me to believe that Kevan has been gone now for almost 4 years now and not alot has been done by this provincial government to change the legislation to better protect our farmworkers safety, that more must suffer the same devasting loss is heartbreaking for all. How many more must die?

There is never an excuse for a worker loosing his life in order to provide for his family. My deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your husband. I have not experienced your pain but it's something I continue to fight for, the safety of the worker. Thanks for sharing your story......UFCW local 1000a member.
