These two folksongs were sung by a boy in a rural school between Bamei and Daofu in Kham.

  • The Tibetan name for Bamei is Karthar.

  • this boy, is he from northern kham near amdo? his accent sounds amdo. I love it. I have heard this song before

  • He is from a village off the main road between Bamei and Daofu (sorry, don't know Tibetan names of these towns) in Kham. Can you translate the words of these songs?

  • amazing song.. please post more, as these are authentic and we need to preserve these..

    thanks a lot,

  • Best ever can please someone let me know where he is from

  • Moving, really. Wonderful. For me it's like a call from a very big distance... from someone I knew very well in the past.

Many thanks from Italy, Rishiwei! :-)

  • so beautiful, thanks for sharing!

  • This is one of the most refreshing videos I have seen. Take away the digital sound, amplification and hypnotic disco-like beat found in numerous pop renditions of traditional music -- as great as some of them may be in their own right -- and you have pure heart. This is the world of music that is filled with humanity, warmth and inspiration.

  • @digiaddict the first song is about a tibet as his homeland, and refers to King Gesar a lot, I can't really understand the second song.

  • @TibetIssra do you know what song this might be or the translation of what he is saying?
