"jacko" was never supposed to be offensive. it was a nickname/ term of endearment or maybe just laziness of not wanting to type their full name(!) (british tabloids do this a lot. david beckham, for example, is "becks". madonna is "madge"). its only when they use "wacko" as a prefix it becomes offensive. because that implies that michael was/is crazy and is no longer just a name short for jackson. thats the difference.
