The tater mits require the potatoes to be boiled first. I saw other reviews on youtube and they do work, BUT you need to boil them first.

@MonopolyBag then it's not 8 seconds. It's boiling time + 8 seconds. That's like saying my car will dry in 5 seconds after I wash it. Of course you have to drive it for 15 minutes first.

Boiling the potatoes before using the 'tater mitts' would be a step that would make preparing potatoes take much longer than what using a traditional peeler would take.

Okay, i understand that the product says 'Peels potatoes in 8 seconds!' or whatever is actually says, but seriously, why would you think that something that requires a sharp edge to peel, would peel with scratching gloves?

Its common sense that the potatoes would have to be boiled. If you can remove the skin from a boiled potato with a dish towel, you SURE as hell can peel it with the gloves.

But before all that, i thought they were for cleaning the skin before you boil it or bake it.

If you already plan to boild the potatoes then the boiling process will take the same amount of time. The difference is that traditionally you peel the potatoes before boiling. Now you are boiling the potatoes with the skin on, then peel the skin after boiling. So comparing the cleaning process of the potatoes, using the gloves will take less time than peeling them with a peeler.

I agree with Jack. If they are going to say it peels potatoes with ease, they should warn you about needing to boil in the infomercial.

@thispoorguy and how would you know to boil them for 15-20 mins first if you didnt read the instructions and im sorry i read instructions to use or build items properly

@twiztid526 No one reads the instructions, the commercials and the box shouldn't be so misleading. It says peels in 8 seconds, but 8 seconds after you boil them for 15-20 minutes.
