@FathomlessJoy I have since given up minarchism for anarchism. I would rather ask: Can Statism ever bring peace? Short answer. No.

@mongoose704 wrote, "I am a peacenik Republican..." I have a question for you: isn't the identification with a political party part of the problem? Can the way of politics ever bring peace? Has it? We don't want to see things for ourselves, so we tether ourselves to posts like goats grazing in the back yard. Isn't the nature of ignorance and violence to seek power through nationalism, politics, religion, fighting and ultimately war? A peaceful person doesn't need a party to define oneself.

I am a peacenik Republican. Peace is a good word, not the dirty word Neocons have made it out to be. Reagan, whom neocons quote incessantly when it suits them, used the word peace 10 times more than he used the word war during his presidency.
Give America the most powerful military and let us use it sparingly, using it ONLY in defense of a DIRECT ATTACK upon our nation.

He wanted more time with his family I guess

Why the heck didn't he run? I'm from Canada and I disagree with some of what he's saying but he's seeing the bigger picture. Those people who have fought in a war will work harder to prevent the next one!! They know what sacrifice is and what it means. Look at Eisenhower's farewell speech to the nation! You can probably get it on this website!

Non-sense is our number one export. This would be a devastating blow to our economy!
If the Republicans were smart, they would have drafted Chuck Hagel. He's smart and unbeatable. Look for him to be part of the next administration's cabinet no matter who wins.
