It was a wild sunfish. They got along fine for a year or so. Then not so fine.

@mrfrodo I know the June bug is a sub species of Scarab beetle. They are all over the place in the Eastern US and Canada.

@88pie88 Yes but need to breath air of course. This one we rescued crossing the road (no where near water?) and only had it in there for a little while before releasing it. The snapper pretty much left it alone. Sunfish was eaten. Sometimes a bigger fish will make it through a feeding and be in there for weeks or months.
