This short animation is composed from a sequence of pictures showing a way to create a Bahtinov focusing mask. The mask was made with one of the most usefull tools on Earth: Tape! This was to be used on the 50cm Cassegrain telescope at MONS Observatory, in La Izaña. These masks are wonderfull assets to help focusing a telescope, and they are surprisingly simple to build!
@mophead319 - well.. actually no, but I think the problem was a combination of uncollimation and seeing the star reflected on the polished metal slit of a spectrograph.. The slit is not parallel to the focal plane, so it could have some influence.. but I think for bahtinov masks to work well, you need a decently collimated scope...
