Originally titled "Mirror" (according to the official THINK! website) , this 1999 THINK! public information film has the most accusing voiceover I've heard for quite some time, which doesn't really make sense given how simple a crash like this seems to be (but maybe that's just me; I watch a lot of these PIFs and will have to see someone go clear through a windscreen before I so much as raise an eyebrow.) Voiceover by Christopher Eccleston AKA Doctor Who AKA That Weird-Ass Show The Brits Like. (Cheers Applemask!)

Note: Given how fast this chap is able to stop and get out of his car, he isn't even wearing a seat belt! If this was any other THINK! seat belt ad, both involved would have done barrel rolls across the road. Or maybe just some more artsy visual-metaphor-heavy bollocks with the driver sobbing in hospital, hell, I dunno.

  • if you look carefully at his left hand at 0:19, it drops quickly ages after he crashed!

  • I THOUGHT I saw something!

  • this is the funniest thing i've ever seen if they want to make people feel scared about something they shouldn't put something so hilarious on the tv. i might make a parody of it.

  • Yeah, I agree. The overtly menacing tone just does it for me. And I encourage that parody wholeheartedly; feel free to Video Response it if you make it. ;)

  • In what way is the driver of the car at fault for what happens in this advert? Assuming he indicates (which is never made clear one way or another), surely the biker was obliged to wait for the car to turn off the road before getting past? Just like any other vehicle on the road?

Cheers for posting, though, I've been looking for this for ages :)

  • No trouble. I always thought personally that the biker had turned inward way too soon, but seeing as how I don't drive or know the Highway Code I didn't want to make a mistake. Thanks for helping, there.

  • Correct me if I am wrong here but the biker can see you the whole time. Besides if he was in lane behind the car instead of hovering in the blindspot as if there was a magic 3rd lane for motorbikes there's be no problem.

Seems like it would be more useful to actually tell bikers the rules of the road than try and train everyone else to make special allowances because they don't like lanes...

  • @kubert57 Drivers like this one are called murderers around here

  • Bikers like this one are called organ donors around here

  • @SavageParrot THIS !!!!! Thank you, saves me from typing the same thing. My brief time living in the UK showed me that bike riders can be just batshit crazy. I dont see the need to go after car drivers to "think" about half insane biker drivers who have no respect and "think" that they own the road. If your that paranoid owning a bike...then...buy a car *faceplam*

  • now you see now you see now you see now you see now you see now you see. That LSS could kill someone.

  • 0:28 NOW HERE'S DEAD...GUES WHOS DEAD.

  • This should've ended with the cyclist dying on the street and the voiceover finishing with "Now you don't..."

  • Hmm theres an audio click as if the indicator comes on (late if anything) yet the drivers hands havent moved. How odd. I wouldnt blame the biker for the driver's late or lazy inducation (though I would have held off near the junction myself)

  • I have to agree. That crash would have been entirely the bikers fault! You can even clearly hear the indicator.
