THANK YOU. I had been meaning to make a video like this but you beat me to it, and did a way better job than I would have. Before I found this video of yours, I've been echoing all the same things in the comments of the original ads.. *especially* the comment I'm replying to. I think your video will be a lot more effective.
Excellent video and point well-made!

I understood this video, until the video started to get personal and rude. People call me gay, and they don't even know me.

how can so evil people to shift up like victims. The gay people act victims and good on this videos and media, but i real live they are verry evil. They are not good and piecefull at all. They are materialists, idiots, criminals, fanatic communists and hipocritical. J was homoeexual now j m transgender. J rate gay people when j go in gay bars. The are verry geek, cinic, patetic evil and hipoctitical. Stop with this videos and thell the truth to people

Saying things are gay is demeaning because the word gay has started to become stupid or bad instead of it's intentional meaning of homosexual and all the people that say it's not bad are homophobic espically the guy who took time out of his homophobic life to make this video

Agreed

@ShukonDeeshnutz YOU SIR ARE SOOOOOO SMART EVERYONE ELSE HIS AN ARROGANT LITTLE CHILD WHINING ABOUT THINGS THEY DON'T LIKE AND SUSPECT PEOPLE TO CHANGE THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD FOR THEM.
-
You make extremely valid points in this video. I say things are retarded, dumb, gay, etc. And the only people who care are KNOW overly sensitive gay people. All other gays are cool with it. Hell, I learned to use gay in the context I do FROM a gay person.
-
@driftwood1408 i can agree with you on that, but instead of allowing the word to continued to be used as a "hurtful" or "degrading" term for homosexuals. is it not smarter, at least more easier, to allow the slang meaning of the word to evolve and change? I mean it is slang, "Cool" meant "awesome" in the 70's and made it's way back into the common slang in the 90's. I would say it is only a matter of time before the term once more changes. Its up to us to allow it to change.

@TheYTNexus Good point. You're right. It's been a loong time since that comment was posted. I now feel like those kinda words only have harm if you let them have harm. But just to play devils advocate... I think that the reason no one had a problem from the previous evolutions of the words was that they never implied an insult on anyone.

Hahaha
It's like when people used to use "wicked" as a term for something good.
People should just suck it up and not get offended so much by little things, I know people are trying to fight for gay rights but common be sensible.
regarding the improper use of language... English is overly complicated so I do kind of understand them for misunderstanding their own shit they say. however I don't think that they should be complaining about developing uses of a word against a previous meaning.

You make some good points. But considering that there's a lot of people out there who have pregudices against gay people, I can understand these kinds of promotions because they associate it with that people having that pregudice, and in a lot of cases it's true. I haven't heard of many people who hate mentaly ill people, and sure, if I went around saying "Oh that's so retarded" it's not gonna get a mentaly challenged kid beaten up, but it doesn't make it okay to do so because it's demeaning.

> because it's demeaning
demeaning to what end? if saying something is retarded doesn't come from hatred of the mentally ill, and doesn't make anyone else hate them, then how is it demeaning? any offense taken is due to oversensitivity, or a lack of understanding of the nature of language and people's use of it in our society.

The maker of this video is a "moron" (which is a psychological term).
The only way we can have 'gay' or 'straight' kids who are "strong" is if they grow up in a supportive environment. When kids are constantly barraged with negative messages it leads to poor self-esteem, which in many cases (gay or straight) leads to high school drop outs, depression or even suicide.
Ask a black person (President Obama for example) growing up how they felt about demeaning slang like "jungle b*nny", etc.
atestaccount 3 years ago
Nobody says "jungle bunny" except to bring the black man down. The word "gay" is used in other, even pejorative ways that have nada to do with being homo, and was even before it meant homo
That's what gays are strong enough to face. I never said you should yell faggot at them because it makes them tough.
But teaching them that the world owes it to them to revise speech that doesn't even reference them in the name of sensitivity tells them they're too weak to hear language like everyone else.

Because saying gay is teaching kids it is wrong. And in turn they hate them, wich soon leads to mental abuse, then to physical abuse, then to murder. it has to stop somewhere.

its no different than saying 'retarded' or 'dumb' and nobody is commiting hate crimes against the mentally handicapped ot the mute. quit whining.
