Centralized computer system doesn't dictate your life. It would provide you everything you need to survive and flourish as a human being. You can do whatever you want with your time, the system is just there so you don't have to spend energy getting what you need to live. Personally, I'd rather spend my time in a lab developing future space propulsion systems rather then spend my time having to earn my food, shelter, and some pointless goal of earning as much money as I can. You decide.

Technology is the only thing that has done it. U think tech is just the iphone, cars and whatever? Tech is ur clothes. It is the certain way u r "speaking" now trying to convince someone. Without it, ur would not be a "cool guy", u'd be another kind of animal, not human 4 sure. Information isnt a contaminated thing that will make u a "nerd", it is what'll make u free, bcause only by understanding yr environment, u can act upon it correctly to solve yr problems. Grow the hell up.

Would it help feed, cloth, and shelter the entirety of the human population? Yes. "Utopic?" No, impossible. "New world order?" Obviously... new world order simply means a new way of living, doesn't automatically mean it's bad.

Think about what would happen if you started by dismantling the military industrial complex and used that technology for something proactive rather than reactive. Also, Huxley and Orwell wrote about hierarchy and oppression. This has nothing to do with utopia rather a society open to discussion that can constantly be improved upon.

Lol, I doubt that. Or do you have a degree/knowledge concerning the involved physics/chemistry and think the narcissistic satisfaction of "doing something meaningful" would by itself give you the necessary means to achieve that?

VP is science-fiction for politically frustrated nerds...

    "You fail to understand"...?

    False, dude!

I just don´t think that technology is any more able to save us than communication and a change of political structures, a break-up of rigid hierarchies.

You´re still advocating a techno-utopic "new world order". Huxley anyone?

You fail to understand technology is just as humane as your emotions, sensation, and thoughts. Technology is merely the extension of human sensation, it merely make it easier for us to do certain things. A megaphone allows us to speak louder without speaking louder, a stove allows us to cook faster, a light allows us to see in the dark, a hammer allows us to create force we couldn't before... it isn't something to run away from, it is something to embrace.
