This is Go Pei Sho, "Tearing Peacock Form". It's a black belt kata from the Shuri-Ryu karate system. It implements elements from Chinese Hsing Yi. I got footage in the dance studio at my college.

  • Go Pei Sho at white belt? o.O That's pretty ambitious. :)

  • @TheColoradoan I'm actually a brown belt. I wore a white belt while working out at my college because I don't want other people to know what rank I am. It's a humbleness thing.

  • Yeah, I need to work on flow. I was a little distracted at the time this was shot as well because some people walked in. I prefer to work on this stuff with anonymity.

  • go pei sho is a very advanced form. whait until you can dominate berter the basic techniques and katas, then pratice go pei sho. But keep on praticing. You are in good way

  • I have always loved this kata. It was the favorite kata of my sensei. Since he passed away, I have always tried to make sure to keep this kata one of my best ones.

  • Excellent performance for the rank of brown belt. Must say my first impression was the same as TheColoradoan's at first. As a 4th Dan in this style I can say from experience this is a difficult form to master. Continue your practice and good luck.

  • good good , continue working hard.
