Il mito Ferrari con il fascino dell'attore statunitense Steve McQueen saranno oggi protagonisti della famosa casa d'aste Christie's. Sul banco del battitore sarà infatti messa all'asta la celebre Ferrari 250 Gt del 1965, la prima vettura di Maranello appartenuta all'attore statunitense, protagonista sul grande schermo con celebri pellicole come "La grande fuga" e "I magnifici sette". Il prezzo di partenza sarà di un milione di dollari per questo modello dal colore particolare, il marrone. In verità modelli analoghi della 250 Gt si trovano anche a prezzi inferiori, ma con un proprietario di tale statura qualche paperon dei paperoni non guarderà certo al valore di mercato. E la fama della Ferrari di Steve McQueen, che in virtù della sua passione per i motori aveva collezionato 210 moto, 55 automobili e 5 aerei, è accresciuta dalla vittoria, risalente al 1970, alla 12 ore di Sebring, in California

  • I read that "marrone" was the factory name for the colour of this car. I also read that McQueen got shut of it because it wore out valve guides quickly. "High Maintenance"...but then so many things of true beauty are.

  • True, and also my father serviced this car when he worked at Ferrari of Long Island. He showed me pictures of it.

  • Steve McQueen's wife was not the first person to purchase this car. I work for a physician in Pasadena, who first purchased this car. We have pictures of him with the car, and he sold it to Steve McQueen. The auction house did not want to hear any of this.
