I don't understand when people say this is a boring movie. Granted that the pace becomes somewhat deliberate after the first tense 20 minutes, but the rest of the movie further develops our idea of who the killer is as a person and the brutal nature of the killings. The art lies in the gradual revelation of the killer's character and not so much on gratuitous hack and gore.

Really love those old movies when they work more on the mental than images... Doesn't need to show a lot of blood and gore scenes to be scary, just keep a creepy ambiance and let the imagination work !!

I prefer this version because it doesn't just focus on the babysitter sitting answering the phone and running around. This focuses on the detective, serial killer and babysitter.
