Haiqiong Deng is a world renowned zheng player, and she is very knowledgeable on traditional Chinese music. Following the excerpt is an explanation of the piece and of the technique of the Hunan school.

Haiqiong's husband, Nan Liu, studied traditional art and calligraphy in China. You will see him writing the name of this piece- High Mountain Flowing Water.

Haiqiong and her husband live in Tallahassee, Florida, where Haiqiong teaches the Chinese Ensemble at Florida State University.
