And if I ever do in-game footage again, I shall increase the size of the video and make sure nothing's cropped.

One late, long night on WoW, Erubadhron was wandering around Stormwind after sneaking through Lower Blackrock Spire to get two vanity pets. Suddenly, he espied something few people ever see: the actual mystical rites of the Gold Seller Cultists! Hilarity and hijinks ensue.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNAWARE/WILLING TO READ:
In the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game known as World of Warcraft, some folks earn lots of in-game currency called "gold" and attempt to sell it to players for real-life currency. This causes major imbalances to the game's economy, and as a result anyone who attempts to make a sale with somebody else is usually swiftly banned. In a clever and creative attempt to escape the bannings and make money at the same time, one company has gotten their employees to do something different. They make new characters with randomly generated names, go into a bustling town, and kill themselves. They log out, make a new character, and continue. Eventually, their bodies spell out the name of their website, and the ensuing attention it draws brings customers. However, it is not entirely that simple. Upon close inspection of the deed, it is apparent by their unresponsiveness to people talking to them, the method of "suicide", and their robotic, stiff movements, that they are using "scripts" or "hacks". That means they basically have created a bit of code that plays the game for them. Normally, using scripts/hacks end in a ban, but because they are doing it for only a minute, nothing is noticed by the mods, the people who keep the game in working condition.
tl;dr: people in WoW kill themselves for attention, making them emo.

FUN TRIVIA:
It takes 85 dead bodies to create a gold seller advertisement, at least for the company who did it in this video.
One body is missing here, therefore only 84. I was originally going to point it out, but decided against it.
These ads have been spotted in Stormwind, Ironforge, Dalaran, and even Ogrimmar. They are made, naturally, with the closest available race, except for Dalaran.
Uncut footage lasted over 16 minutes long. It was cut down to remove all things already seen at least once, such as close-up of sellers dying, etc.
The last thing I whisper to Wildschwein at the end is "I think this is the end of the film".
Nobody likes a gold buyer.

  • FAIL "You have 80 levels ahead of you!" You start at lvl 1 so its "You have 79 levels ahead of you!"

  • I love you too, man.

Besides, they really don't have any XP to speak of, so if you include all the leveling to get to level 2, then it's 80 levels. Or it could have just been that it was 2 in the morning and I was tired. One or the other.

  • what did they spell ?lol

  • There's a view of it completed at the end.

  • im sure there is a group of ppl that do this i see this stuff happening on alot of differnt servers.... it cant go on forever good video BTW

  • Thanks for the comment! I only wish YouTube didn't compress the video so much... the original footage is much easier to see.
