Actually the Thylacine isn't prehistoric. It was a species native to Australia and one of the few predatory marsupials left. As it was a threat to live stock of the newly colonized continent it had a bounty placed on it's head and was hunted by a great many people for profit and to protect farms. Also the invasive Dingos coming into the area managed to out compete them. The last known Thylacine died in 1930. Although rumors of it still existing persist to this day. Be nice if they were true.
